SRINAGAR: National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General Sadanand Date arrived in Pahalgam on Thursday to personally oversee the probe into the recent terror attack that killed 26 tourists.
The NIA took charge of the case from Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday, following a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Counter Terrorism Division. A fresh FIR was registered on Saturday.
The agency began its investigation five days after the attack, with teams visiting the site to collect forensic evidence and map the sequence of events.
Intelligence agencies have identified 14 local suspects, aged 20 to 40, believed to have aided Pakistani terrorists with logistical support.
