Srinagar, July 2:Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Wednesday flagged off the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, marking the beginning of one of the most significant religious pilgrimages in the country.
While writing a post on X, LG Sinha described the pilgrimage as a “sacred journey of faith and self-discovery,” emphasizing its deep spiritual significance for devotees of Lord Shiva.
The Yatra will proceed along the traditional routes—via Pahalgam and Baltal—to the holy Amarnath cave shrine located at an altitude of over 3,800 meters in the Himalayas of South Kashmir. The shrine houses the naturally formed ice Shivlingam, drawing lakhs of pilgrims from across India and abroad every year.
