New Delhi, May 8: The Government of India has temporarily closed the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor citing security concerns in the aftermath of #OperationSindoor. The decision was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of pilgrims and officials amid heightened tensions.
According to official sources, 491 pilgrims who had been granted permission to travel through the corridor on Wednesday were turned back following the closure order. Authorities have stated that the suspension of movement through the corridor will remain in effect until further notice.
The Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, inaugurated in 2019, facilitates visa-free access for Indian pilgrims to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan’s Punjab province. It remains a key religious route for Sikh devotees.
Further updates regarding the reopening of the corridor are expected to be issued based on the evolving security situation.
