Srinagar, Aug 9 — Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Karra, along with senior leaders and district representatives, began a chain hunger strike in Srinagar on Saturday, demanding the restoration of full statehood to J&K.
Karra said the party had spent the past six months mobilizing support across all 20 districts, holding protests in Srinagar, Jammu, and Delhi, despite police restrictions in some areas. Earlier this month, the Congress held an outreach program, meeting traders, transporters, and other associations who backed the demand.He added that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have written to the Prime Minister, urging him to fulfill the promise of restoring statehood.
