J&K Police Initiate Probe into Sexual Assault Case in Srinagar’s Nishat Area

May 5 — Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched an investigation into a shocking case of sexual assault that took place in the Nishat area of Srinagar.

According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred near Water Works Road, where a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and sustained grievous injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead upon arrival.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Nishat under relevant sections of law, and four individuals accused of involvement in the crime have been taken into custody.

“The investigation is ongoing,” the spokesperson said, adding that District Police Srinagar remains committed to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.
