Srinagar, August 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered an FIR (No. 17/2025) against former Tehsildar (Settlement) Jammu, late Aslam Din, and ex-Patwari Halqa Sunjwan, Mohd Iqbal Zargar (now retired as Naib Tehsildar), along with beneficiaries Mohd Rashid of Jalalabad, Sunjwan, Mohd Mushtaq of Sunjwan, and others, for allegedly tampering with revenue records to confer undue pecuniary benefits.
The case pertains to mutation No. 689/Jeem, attested on March 27, 2010, by the then Tehsildar in violation of the J&K Land Revenue Act, which authorizes only a settlement officer to do so. The illegal mutation transferred 15 kanals 14 marlas of land to Mohd Rashid and 69 kanals to Mohd Mushtaq and others.
The Financial Commissioner, Revenue, had set aside the mutation in September 2017 and ordered restoration of original entries. Investigations revealed the mutation was entered by Zargar when he was not posted in Sunjwan and duplicated an earlier mutation number from 2008, violating standing order 23-A.
Further investigation is underway.
