Ramban, Aug 18: The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, has been closed for vehicular movement following continuous shooting stones at Monkey Mode in Ramban district, officials said on Monday.Heavy rains have lashed the Ramban–Banihal sector since early morning, triggering landslides and shooting stones that have made travel unsafe. Traffic authorities said that all kinds of vehicular movement on the highway has been suspended until the road is cleared and the weather improves.”Restoration work will be taken up once the shooting stones stop. At present, it is unsafe for commuters as the rains continue,” a traffic department official said.
