SRINAGAR: The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has revealed that Jammu and Kashmir received over ₹1,000 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) in the past five years.

In a reply to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said projects under CRIF are identified through a structured process aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Proposals submitted by States and UTs are prioritised and sanctioned by the Ministry.

Data shows steady growth in accruals and utilisation in J&K. In 2020-21, the UT accrued ₹94.51 crore, with ₹79.40 crore released. The following year saw a major boost, with ₹96.91 crore accrued and ₹321.18 crore released, reflecting increased central focus on infrastructure after the region’s reorganisation.
