A group of international students—three from India and two from China—have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other immigration authorities, accusing them of unlawfully revoking the F-1 visa status of numerous students without prior notice.

The legal petition, submitted by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in the U.S. District Court of New Hampshire, claims that the students have been unfairly pushed out of legal immigration status, placing them at risk of deportation and detention.

The students say this sudden revocation has not only disrupted their academic progress but has also caused significant financial strain. As a result, they are unable to complete their degrees or participate in the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, which allows international graduates to gain work experience in the U.S.

According to the ACLU, the action taken by immigration officials could impact thousands of international students across the country.
