New Delhi, April 21: The Government of India has declared a three-day State Mourning as a mark of respect for His Holiness Pope Francis, the Supreme Pontiff of the Holy See, who passed away recently.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the mourning will be observed across the country, during which the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly flown. No official entertainment will be held during this period.
Pope Francis, the head of the worldwide Catholic Church and the Bishop of Rome, was widely respected for his humanitarian vision, interfaith outreach, and efforts toward peace and social justice. His demise has drawn condolences from leaders and faithful around the globe.
