November 28: Security forces in Awantipora achieved a major breakthrough by dismantling a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) hideout and arresting a terrorist associate. Acting on credible intelligence about terrorist presence in Naner Midoora, Awantipora Police, 42 RR, and 180 BN CRPF launched a cordon and search operation.
During the operation, one terrorist associate—identified as Nazir Ahmed Ganai, son of Abdul Aziz Ganai and a resident of Ganai Mohalla Nanar—was arrested. Ganai, affiliated with JeM, had been providing logistical support and facilitating the movement of arms and ammunition for terrorists active in Tral and Awantipora.
Based on his disclosure during questioning, a hideout in orchards belonging to him was located and destroyed. Security forces recovered two hand grenades, one detonator, and explosive-like material, which were seized for further forensic examination. The hideout was demolished in the presence of an Executive Magistrate.
A case under FIR No. 257/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation is underway. Police reiterated their commitment to dismantling terror networks and maintaining peace in the region.
