SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced that helicopter services for pilgrims visiting the Shiv Khori shrine will begin soon, with the necessary infrastructure nearing completion.
Addressing the 11th Convocation Ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in Katra, the LG said that helipads at both Katra and Shiv Khori are almost ready, clearing major hurdles for the launch of the service.
He said the helicopter connectivity will greatly benefit senior citizens and persons with disabilities by making the pilgrimage less physically demanding. Officials added that the service is expected to boost pilgrimage facilities and improve connectivity to the revered shrine once operations commence.
