Srinagar: Former Hurriyat Conference chairman Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat passed away at his residence in Sopore on Wednesday, his family confirmed. He was 90.According to relatives, Prof. Bhat, a resident of Botingoo in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, breathed his last after a brief illness.
Details regarding his funeral prayers are yet to be announced by the family.Prof. Bhat was a prominent figure in Kashmir’s political and separatist landscape, with a career spanning several decades. In 1986, he co-founded the Muslim United Front (MUF), which played a significant role in shaping the political discourse of the region.
