JAMMU, May 9: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating that continued escalation along the border would ultimately harm its own interests. He described the aerial strikes on Jammu as “one of the most serious assaults” on the city since the 1971 Indo-Pak war.Speaking in the aftermath of Thursday’s attack amid the ongoing military conflict triggered by Operation Sindoor, Abdullah called for restraint and urged Pakistan to prioritise de-escalation to avoid further deterioration of the situation.“The strikes on Jammu mark a grave provocation. Pakistan must realise that continued aggression will not serve its cause. Instead, it will only invite greater instability and suffering,” the Chief Minister said.
He lauded the swift and coordinated response of the armed forces, noting that their timely action prevented any drones from reaching their intended targets. “Our forces acted with precision and professionalism, ensuring the safety of our people,” he added.
The chief minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding civilians and maintaining peace in the region despite provocations.
