SRINAGAR, May 25 — Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat (IPS) on Sunday emphasized the need to dismantle the terror ecosystem and ensure robust security arrangements ahead of the 38-day Amarnath Yatra, set to commence on July 3.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir, DGP Prabhat reviewed the preparedness with top officials from the Police, CRPF, ITBP, Traffic Police, Railways, and intelligence agencies. He called for proactive measures, strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and deployment of anti-sabotage teams along pilgrimage routes.
The DGP further stressed the use of advanced surveillance technologies and real-time monitoring to detect and neutralize threats. Inspector Generals of Police from Kashmir and Jammu zones briefed him on the proposed security plans.
The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir attracts thousands of devotees each year and remains a significant security focus for law enforcement agencies.
