SRINAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Srinagar has filed a case against District Development Council (DDC) Member Mohammad Shaban Chopan and his associate Ghulam Mohammad Khathana for allegedly demanding a ₹5 lakh bribe to arrange official No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for a local school.An FIR (No. 12/2025) was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (1988, amended 2018) and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Police Station ACB Srinagar.The case was based on a complaint alleging that Chopan and Khathana, both residents of Dara, Harwan, demanded the bribe to facilitate NOCs for Scholars Boarding School in the area.
