Jammu, Dec 02: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday reviewed the expansion and modernization plans for the Music and Fine Arts Institutes of the University of Kashmir and the University of Jammu.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education), Vice Chancellors of both universities, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, and other senior officials.
Dulloo stressed the pivotal role of these institutes in nurturing artistic talent in J&K and called for their development with modern infrastructure and improved academic facilities. He asked the universities to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for permanent campuses and future growth, and to consider introducing new programmes, including postgraduate courses.
Highlighting the need for academic excellence, he also directed faculty upgradation in line with UGC norms and urged that these institutes be given equal institutional support as other departments.
The Vice Chancellors briefed the Chief Secretary on existing infrastructure, programmes, and student intake, while flagging land constraints for establishing independent campuses. To address this, Dulloo instructed the Divisional Commissioners to help identify and transfer suitable land at the earliest.
