New Delhi, May 29 — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a stern warning to Pakistan, asserting that India exercised “remarkable restraint” during Operation Sindoor, despite possessing the capability to inflict significantly greater damage.

Speaking at the inaugural plenary session of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi, Singh said that while India conducted precision strikes targeting terrorist launchpads and enemy airbases across the border, it deliberately chose not to escalate the conflict.

“You saw how we first destroyed terrorist hideouts and then targeted enemy airbases,” Singh stated. “We could have done much more, but with great power must come great restraint. We have set a remarkable example before the world—of strength combined with strategic coordination.”

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was India’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which had shocked the nation. The operation targeted camps belonging to terror outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, resulting in the elimination of over 100 terrorists, according to official sources.

The Defence Minister’s remarks are being seen as a clear message to Pakistan, underscoring India’s resolve to act decisively against cross-border terrorism while maintaining strategic maturity on the global stage.
