Srinagar, July 3 – In a proactive move to address water needs during the holy month of Muharram, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with Minister for Jal Shakti Javed Rana, flagged off a fleet of 10 new water tankers in Srinagar on Wednesday.

The special initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted and adequate water supply to various areas, particularly where demand surges during Muharram processions and gatherings.

Minister Javed Rana reiterated the Jal Shakti Department’s preparedness to meet the seasonal demands, stating that additional contingency plans are in place to support the public throughout the observance period.

The deployment of the water tankers comes amid heightened preparations by the administration to facilitate smooth and respectful conduct of Muharram across the Union Territory.
