Srinagar, July 7: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Monday urged the government to declare July 13 a gazetted holiday in memory of the 1931 martyrs and to observe the day at the state level as was previously done.
Addressing a workers’ convention in Pulwama, Bukhari criticized the elected government for failing to deliver even one percent of its promises in the past eight months. He accused the ruling party of misleading voters with false promises, such as free electricity, increased ration quotas, and the return of abrogated Articles 370 and 35A — none of which, he said, have been fulfilled.
He also reiterated his demand for the release of prisoners, stating that many involved in past stone-pelting incidents had been misled by certain political leaders.
Regarding speculation about the government’s stability, Bukhari said its real threat lies not in future elections but in its poor performance and unkept promises.
