SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Wildlife authorities on Thursday captured a wild brown bear that had been causing fear among residents in the Gatipora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Officials said the animal was spotted roaming close to residential areas, prompting locals to alert the Wildlife Control Room. Acting promptly, a team of wildlife officials rushed to the location, tranquilized the bear, and captured it safely.
Control Room Incharge, Mudasir Ahmad, said the animal was tracked carefully before being captured and will be released back into its natural habitat after a detailed medical examination.
Locals praised the swift response of the Wildlife Department, saying their timely action helped prevent any possible mishap.
