SRINAGAR, May 3: The body of a 24-year-old youth who went missing after a boat capsized in Dal Lake near Duck Park on Friday afternoon was recovered by rescuers on Saturday morning.

According to officials from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the body was retrieved shortly after search operations resumed at daybreak. The overnight rescue efforts had been halted due to poor visibility.

The deceased was identified as Taufeeq Ahmad Chopan, a resident of Chopan Mohalla in Rainawari, Srinagar.

The incident occurred when strong gusts of wind caused the boat, carrying two fishermen, to overturn. One of the men, Abdul Majeed Khosa, also from Rainawari, was rescued soon after the mishap. However, despite extensive search operations on Friday, Chopan remained untraceable until Saturday morning.

The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the Rainawari locality, where residents mourn the untimely loss.
