Srinagar, August 24 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has directed all concerned departments to remain on high alert following heavy rains that have triggered waterlogging in several residential areas across Jammu and Kashmir.
Rivers and nallahs are reported to be flowing above the danger mark, prompting authorities to activate control rooms and coordinate closely with the Chief Minister’s Office.
Officials said priority is being given to drainage works in the worst-affected localities, along with the restoration of essential services such as water supply and electricity.
The administration has also issued an advisory urging people in vulnerable areas to remain cautious and take necessary safety measures.
