Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel sustained critical injuries after allegedly shooting himself at the Yatra Transit Camp in Panthachowk on Sunday morning.
According to official sources, gunshots were heard from within the camp, prompting police and other security forces to rush to the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the head constable of the 62nd Battalion, hailing from Basani in Lakhisarai district of Bihar, allegedly turned his service weapon on himself.
The injured personnel was immediately shifted to the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir for urgent medical treatment.
Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident, and further investigation is underway.
