Ranchi/Srinagar, Aug 4: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and veteran tribal leader Shibu Soren passed away on August 4, marking the end of an era in Indian politics. Known for his lifelong commitment to the upliftment of marginalized communities, Soren’s demise has drawn condolences from across the political spectrum.
Paying heartfelt tribute, National Conference president and former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah described Soren as a “real leader of the people” who rose from humble beginnings to become a symbol of hope for the downtrodden.
“Shibu Soren was a great leader. He came from a poor family and community, but had the determination in his mind and soul to change the lives of poor people,” Dr Abdullah said. “He struggled all his life and rose to the position of Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He did everything to ensure the downtrodden were brought out of poverty.”
Recalling Soren’s turbulent yet determined political journey, Dr Abdullah noted that the late leader had even faced imprisonment but emerged stronger from the ordeal. “He was a true people’s leader, and with his passing, it saddens us deeply. The nation continues to lose good leaders,” he remarked.
