SRINAGAR, July 25:
The Chief Minister today chaired the Board meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB), lauding the efforts made for the welfare of construction workers and their families across the Union Territory.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of ensuring transparent and timely delivery of benefits to all eligible workers. He directed officials to intensify outreach efforts, simplify registration and benefit disbursal procedures, and ensure that no deserving construction worker is excluded from welfare schemes.
“The welfare of our construction workers must remain a priority. Every eligible worker must feel the impact of the government’s support in real and tangible ways,” the Chief Minister stated.
He emphasized that the Board must adopt technology-driven mechanisms for efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. Officials were also asked to conduct awareness drives and collaborate with local bodies to identify unregistered workers and bring them under the welfare umbrella.
The meeting reviewed ongoing welfare initiatives, including financial assistance schemes for education, healthcare, and housing. The Chief Minister appreciated the progress made so far but urged continuous improvement to bridge any implementation gaps.
Senior officials from the Labour and Employment Department, members of the Welfare Board, and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
