SRINAGAR: Following the tragic attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, a Parliamentary Committee is scheduled to visit the Baisaran Valley to examine the situation on the ground and evaluate the effectiveness of the security and administrative response.

The visit will mark the first official visit by a Parliamentary panel to the site since the terror attack. The Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal, Mines, and Steel—chaired by senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur—is presently undertaking a nationwide study tour, which includes visits to Mumbai, Coorg, and Srinagar.

During the Kashmir segment of their tour, the committee will begin in Jammu, where they are expected to hold initial consultations with top officials of the Union Territory administration. Their itinerary also includes a visit to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine before traveling to Srinagar aboard the Vande Bharat Express.

Once in Srinagar, the panel is set to hold further discussions focused on regional development, internal security, and the escalating impact of terrorism on civilian life and the tourism industry in the valley.
