SRINAGAR: In response to rising temperatures, the Department of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a set of hot weather guidelines aimed at protecting schoolchildren from heat-related illnesses across the Union Territory.
The advisory emphasizes that children are particularly susceptible to heat, as their bodies heat up faster and they sweat less than adults. It also notes that children may not always feel thirsty while playing, underscoring the importance of regular hydration.
To ensure student safety during hot weather, school heads have been instructed to enforce the following precautionary measures:Encourage Hydration: Ensure students drink water frequently, even if they do not feel thirsty.Provide Shade: Allow students to rest in shaded areas, especially during outdoor activities.Surface Safety: Check playground and seating surfaces to prevent burns or discomfort.Maintain Classroom Comfort: Keep classrooms well-ventilated and as cool as possible during school hours.
