Gurdaspur, May 5: A Pakistani national was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) after he allegedly crossed the international border into India in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab during the intervening night of May 3 and 4.

The individual has been identified as Mohammad Husinan, son of Mohammad Ajmal, a resident of Gujranwala, Pakistan. According to officials, Husinan was intercepted and detained by BSF personnel while patrolling the border fence in the Gurdaspur sector.

Following standard procedure, the BSF handed over the suspect to the Punjab Police for further questioning. He was subsequently produced before a local court, which remanded him to two days of police custody to facilitate investigation.

Security agencies are now trying to ascertain the purpose of the border breach. Sources say authorities are not ruling out any possibility, including accidental crossing, espionage, or involvement in smuggling networks.

“Further investigations are underway to determine his background and the motive behind his illegal entry into Indian territory,” said a senior Punjab Police official on condition of anonymity.

This incident has once again brought the focus back on the vulnerability of the international border and the importance of constant vigilance by security forces.

More details are awaited as the interrogation continues.
