SRINAGAR: Authorities have issued a public safety advisory, urging both residents and tourists to avoid the Kishanganga River and its adjoining reservoir areas following a significant surge in water inflow due to seasonal changes.
The advisory warns that water levels are expected to rise considerably in the coming days. Officials cautioned that sudden increases in inflow may necessitate the release of water through spillway gates, posing potential risks to those in nearby areas.
“Warning sirens will be sounded before any water release,” the advisory said, stressing the importance of vigilance and precautionary measures.
