SRINAGAR, May 2: A search operation is underway in Srinagar’s Dal Lake after two boats capsized during strong winds on Friday evening, leaving one person missing and four others rescued.

Officials said the incident occurred when sudden, powerful gusts of wind overturned the boats. Rescue teams, including the Quick Response Team (QRT), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Fire and Emergency Services, acted swiftly and managed to pull four individuals to safety.

However, one person — identified as Tawfeeq Ahmad Chopan, son of Nikka Chopan and a resident of Jogi Lanker, Rainawari — remains missing.

Rescue efforts were called off due to nightfall and are set to resume at dawn on Saturday.
