SRINAGAR, AUGUST 6: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a series of meetings today at the Raabita office, engaging with multiple delegations and public representatives to discuss pressing issues related to infrastructure, trade, higher education, and employment opportunities for technocrats in Jammu and Kashmir.
The day began with a delegation of Members of the Legislative Assembly, including Farooq Ahmad Shah (Gulmarg), Sajjad Shafi (Uri), Irshad Rasool Kar (Sopore), Shafi Ahmad Wani (Beerwah), and Pawan Gupta (Udhampur West), who apprised the Chief Minister of constituency-specific concerns that require immediate government attention.
Later, representatives from the Traders Federation of Shopian raised issues faced by the local business community, particularly logistical hurdles and limited market access. They urged the government to intervene and enhance commercial connectivity for Shopian-based enterprises.
A separate delegation from the School of Architecture, Kashmir, highlighted the lack of employment avenues for architecture graduates in the region. They called on the government to create new job posts and involve architects in urban development planning initiatives.
The Chief Minister also met a deputation of transporters and shopkeepers from the Old Batamaloo General Bus Stand, who demanded the revival of commercial activity in the area along with basic civic infrastructure.
In a separate meeting, senior political leader and former Minister Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo discussed developmental challenges in the Chenab Valley region, seeking greater government focus on ongoing and proposed projects.
Scores of individuals also met the Chief Minister, sharing both personal grievances and broader public concerns.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah gave a patient hearing to all delegations and assured that the issues raised would be examined and addressed by the relevant departments.
