SRINAGAR/AMRITSAR: A 69-year-old Pakistani national, Abdul Waheed, passed away from cardiac arrest on Wednesday, shortly before his scheduled deportation to Pakistan. Waheed had been living in India for 17 years on an expired visa and was being escorted from Srinagar by Jammu and Kashmir Police for repatriation, according to PTI.

Meanwhile, cross-border movement continued at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Attari, where 224 individuals with No Obligation to Return to India (NORI) visas entered India, while 139 Pakistani nationals crossed back into Pakistan.

Among the incoming travelers was Monika Rajani, 35, a Pakistani passport holder with both NORI and Long-Term Visa (LTV) status. Accompanied by her five-year-old daughter, Rajani said she crossed the border due to urgent personal reasons amid concerns over a potential closure. Married to a Hindu man from Vijayawada for the past nine years, she was welcomed by her family at the border.

Rajani described the nearly three-hour-long crossing as particularly challenging due to the heat and lengthy customs and immigration procedures. Before continuing their journey to Vijayawada, the family planned a visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
