SRINAGAR, April 30 — In the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead, mostly tourists, around sixty Pakistani women and their children were deported from Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan via the Wagah border on Tuesday.

The deported individuals, many of whom had entered Kashmir under the 2010 rehabilitation policy for former militants, were mostly spouses and children of ex-militants who had returned from Pakistan. They were gathered from various districts including Srinagar, Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam, and Shopian, and transported in buses to Punjab, where they were handed over to Pakistani authorities.

In a separate development, eleven Pakistani nationals who had entered India on valid visas nearly 45 years ago through Mendhar in Poonch district were also repatriated.

The move follows a directive issued by Union Home Minister Amit Shah after the Pahalgam attack, instructing all States and Union Territories to identify, remove, and deport Pakistani nationals residing illegally or under expired permissions.
