Gurez, May 25: The Indian Army organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Interaction Programme at Log Hut Café in the picturesque Gurez Valley, bringing together veterans and widows to address welfare-related issues and strengthen community engagement.
The programme witnessed the participation of 47 ex-servicemen and four widows from the region. During the interaction, Army officials discussed several important policy matters concerning the welfare of veterans and their families, including issues related to the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Canteen Stores Department (CSD), Children Education Allowance (CEA), Next of Kin (NoK) documentation and grievance redressal mechanisms.
As part of the outreach initiative, medical and dental camps were also organised to provide healthcare assistance and consultations to the attendees.
The Army felicitated all participating ex-servicemen and widows in recognition of their service and contribution to the nation. The gathering also emphasised the important role of veterans in promoting social initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Nasha Mukt Bharat and overall community welfare.
The event served as a platform for direct interaction between Army representatives and veterans, helping address concerns while reinforcing the bond between the armed forces and the local community.
