Jammu, May 20: Jammu Headquarters Zone Police on Wednesday foiled a major cross-border smuggling attempt and seized around 1.5 to 2 kilograms of heroin allegedly dropped by a drone near the International Border in Bishnah sector.
According to police sources, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs received over the past week regarding suspected cross-border narcotics smuggling activities. Acting swiftly, police teams intensified surveillance in the border area and successfully intercepted the consignment.
Officials said the heroin was believed to have been sent from across the border using a drone. Further investigation has been initiated to identify the local handlers and the network involved in the smuggling operation.
