New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep shock and sorrow over the demise of Deputy CM Maharashtra Ajit Pawar, remembering him as a grassroots leader who remained committed to public service throughout his political career.

In a condolence message shared on social media, the Prime Minister described Pawar as “a leader of the people, having a strong grassroots level connect,” and said he was widely respected for his hardworking nature and dedication to the people of Maharashtra.

PM Modi highlighted Pawar’s understanding of administrative matters and praised his passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden. Calling his death “untimely,” the Prime Minister said the news was “very shocking and saddening.”

He extended condolences to Pawar’s family and his “countless admirers,” concluding the message with “Om Shanti.”

The Prime Minister’s tribute triggered an outpouring of grief across social media, with leaders and citizens alike remembering Ajit Pawar for his role in Maharashtra’s political and administrative life.
