May 5: The Assam Police have arrested three more individuals from different districts in connection with allegedly expressing support for Pakistan in the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. With these latest arrests, the total number of people taken into custody has risen to 42.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the development on Sunday night through a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that one person each was apprehended from Barpeta, Hojai, and Chirang districts.“#Update on Crackdown against traitors for defending Pakistan on Indian soil… A total of 42 anti-nationals have been put behind bars,” Sarma wrote.The arrests are part of a statewide crackdown on individuals accused of making pro-Pakistan statements, which authorities claim are in violation of national integrity and public order. Further investigations are ongoing.
