Srinagar, December 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday laid e-foundation stones and inaugurated several key development projects worth over ₹37 crore in Srinagar district, aimed at strengthening social welfare, healthcare services, connectivity, and livelihood opportunities.

Among the major initiatives was the upgradation of the Abhedananda Home for children with special needs, a project focused on improving care, facilities, and support services for vulnerable sections of society. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the construction of vital bridges over Maloori Nallah, expected to significantly improve local connectivity and ease movement for residents.

In the healthcare sector, Omar Abdullah launched projects for the expansion of academic and clinical infrastructure at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, a move aimed at enhancing medical education and improving patient care facilities in the region.

Additionally, an e-foundation stone was laid for the establishment of a Fleece Testing Laboratory at Zakura, which is expected to boost the livestock and wool sector by providing scientific testing facilities, thereby supporting local livelihoods and economic growth.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the projects reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, with a focus on improving quality of life and creating long-term socio-economic benefits for the people of Srinagar.
