SRINAGAR: Budgam Police, along with the Food Safety Department, seized 100 kg of rotten fish at Humhama Chowk after it was transported from Srinagar International Airport on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Mehdi Hasan Lashkar of West Bengal, currently residing in Safa Kadal, Srinagar, was arrested on the spot. An FIR (No. 263/2025) has been registered at Police Station Budgam under relevant provisions of law, including Sections 271, 272, and 275 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Authorities said flying squads and police checkpoints have been set up across the district to prevent the sale and transport of unsafe food items.
