Srinagar: Higher reaches of the Tulail Valley in north Kashmir’s Gurez sector of Bandipora received fresh snowfall on Sunday, causing a noticeable dip in temperatures, officials said.
The snowfall began early morning and remained intermittent, largely limited to upper elevations, while lower areas experienced overcast skies and cold winds. Locals reported a thin blanket of snow on surrounding mountains, intensifying the winter chill.
Officials said the snowfall was light and has not disrupted normal life or essential services. However, travellers heading towards higher reaches were advised to remain cautious as temperatures are expected to drop further during the night.
Residents welcomed the snowfall, citing its benefits for water resources, the local ecosystem, and the valley’s scenic beauty.
