Srinagar, Dec 08: Police in Ganderbal have arrested two Srinagar residents for allegedly flying a drone in a designated No Flying Zone during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2025.

Officials said security forces intercepted and neutralised an unauthorised drone using soft-kill measures after it was detected over the restricted Yatra corridor, which had been declared a No Drone Zone under MHA guidelines.

Following the incident, Police Station Gund registered FIR No. 26/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A technical team later conducted a forensic analysis of the seized drone, successfully retrieving data that helped identify the operators.

The accused were identified as Owais Muneer Khan of Sanat Nagar and Farooz Ahmad Nengroo of Munwar-Abad, Khanyar. Both were taken into custody, produced before court, and charge-sheeted in the case.

Police said the swift action reflects the heightened security measures in place to prevent any threat to the Yatra and ensure its peaceful conduct.
