November 24- Bollywood icon Dharmendra, fondly known as the ‘He-Man’ of Indian cinema, passed away on 24 November 2025 at the age of 89.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid an emotional tribute on X, calling his death “the end of an era in Indian cinema.” He praised Dharmendra’s versatility, humility, and the warmth that endeared him to millions, extending condolences to the actor’s family and fans.
Earlier this month, Dharmendra had been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital and was believed to be recovering at home. He would have turned 90 on 8 December. The veteran actor was last seen in the 2024 film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and was slated to appear in Sriram Raghavan’s war drama Ikkis.
From the late 1960s to the 1980s, Dharmendra delivered numerous hits including Ankhen, Shikar, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Jeevan Mrityu, Mera Gaon Mera Desh and Seeta Aur Geeta. Known for his effortless charm and powerful screen presence across genres, he leaves behind a legacy that shaped generations of Indian cinema lovers.
