New Delhi, February 12: At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, will undertake a State Visit to India from February 18 to 22, 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced.
During his visit, President Lula will participate in the 2nd AI Impact Summit scheduled to be held from February 19 to 20. The summit is expected to bring together global leaders, policymakers, industry experts and innovators to deliberate on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and its socio-economic implications.
Prime Minister Modi and President Lula are scheduled to hold bilateral talks on February 21. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening the India-Brazil strategic partnership, enhancing cooperation in trade and investment, energy, climate action, technology, agriculture, and multilateral forums, including BRICS and the G20.
As part of the ceremonial engagements, President Lula is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host a State Banquet in his honour. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar are also envisaged to call on the Brazilian President during his stay.
The visit is seen as an important step towards deepening bilateral ties between the two major emerging economies and reinforcing cooperation in areas of mutual interest. India and Brazil share close collaboration in multilateral platforms and have consistently supported a rules-based international order, sustainable development, and South-South cooperation.
Further details regarding the programme and outcomes of the visit are expected to be shared by the MEA in due course.
