SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that employee termination cases in Jammu and Kashmir should be settled by courts rather than based on suspicion.

Speaking to reporters in Handwara, Omar stressed that every government employee deserves a fair chance to defend themselves before facing action. “Termination should be done through the court. Everyone must get a chance to defend themselves,” he said.

He noted that several employees terminated earlier were later reinstated, proving such decisions are often flawed. “It’s better to let the courts identify the real culprits. Action based on suspicion harms everyone,” he added.

Reiterating his party’s commitment to the restoration of J&K’s special status, Omar said the National Conference will continue to defend the political and economic rights of the people. “Opponents may try to provoke us, but we remain focused on our mission of justice, development, and fair representation,” he said.
