Srinagar, October 24: Jammu and Kashmir Awami Ittehad Party’s lone MLA, Sheikh Khursheed, has announced support for the National Conference (NC) in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls to prevent the BJP from gaining ground.

Speaking to the media, Khursheed said, “We have decided to vote for NC candidates only to keep the BJP out. Despite our differences with the NC, the current situation leaves us with no choice.” He added that his party’s earlier resolutions and bills were ignored, but their main goal now is to “ensure the BJP’s defeat.”

Independent MLA Shabir Ahmad Kullay echoed the sentiment, saying his support for the NC was purely to block the BJP. He also urged the PDP to avoid political bargaining “at a time of crisis.”
