SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) chairman Sajad Lone on Monday dismissed allegations of inaction on the Public Safety Act (PSA) during his ministerial tenure, urging instead for a fair debate on its misuse.Responding to a journalist’s post on X, Lone said that while he accepts limited responsibility, it is unjust to blame him for a law he neither introduced nor had the authority to repeal. “I was a minister for just two and a half years with minimal political influence. That’s too little to change a law as horrendous as PSA,” he said.Calling for an “objective discussion,” Lone asked critics to examine who framed, used, and could have repealed the Act. “Let’s not defend the indefensible,” he added.

Calling for an “objective discussion,” Lone asked critics to examine who framed, used, and could have repealed the Act. “Let’s not defend the indefensible,” he added. He also likened the PSA’s misuse to issues surrounding police verifications, saying both severely affect the lives of ordinary people in Jammu and Kashmir.
