Leh, Oct 3: Authorities in Leh on Friday further relaxed curfew restrictions, allowing shops and markets to operate between 10 AM and 6 PM.
The easing comes after days of tight security measures following the September 24 incident in which four civilians were killed during protests. Since then, the city had remained under curfew, with markets shut and mobile internet services suspended.
On Friday, residents were seen thronging markets to purchase essentials as public movement gradually resumed. Security personnel, however, continued to remain deployed at key locations to maintain order.
Officials said the decision to permit partial reopening was taken after reviewing the situation, noting that no major law and order incidents have been reported since the initial violence. The administration has urged residents to cooperate with authorities and adhere to the guidelines, warning that violations could lead to the reimposition of restrictions.
