SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president and MLA from Central Shalteng, Tariq Hameed Karra, on Sunday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Centre for the ongoing protests in Ladakh, citing unfulfilled assurances made after the 2019 abrogation of Article 370.
Addressing reporters at the party headquarters in Srinagar, Karra said the same people who once celebrated the Centre’s move are now agitating against it. “Those who were projected as supporters of the abrogation are today on the streets against the Government of India and the local administration,” he remarked.
Referring to activist Sonam Wangchuk, Karra claimed her family had long-standing ties with the BJP, noting that her father served as a deputy minister in the 1970s, while one of her brothers currently holds the post of BJP Leh vice president. He added that she was expelled from Congress in 1987 for anti-party activities and had no links with the party since.
