SRINAGAR: A powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on the evening of November 10 killed at least 12 people and injured over 20 in what investigators call a terror attack. The blast, which occurred around 6:55 pm on Netaji Subhash Marg, set vehicles ablaze just 300 metres from the Red Fort.
Preliminary probes suggest the attack was carried out by a Kashmir-based module with alleged ties to Pakistan-backed groups Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH). The car used in the blast — a white Hyundai i20 (HR26 CE 7674) — was reportedly driven by Dr. Mohammad Umar Nabi, a 36-year-old physician from Pulwama.
Eyewitnesses described a “sudden fireball” erupting from the car, torching nearby vehicles and injuring bystanders. Six cars, two e-rickshaws, and an autorickshaw were gutted. Victims were rushed to LNJP Hospital, where distraught families gathered.
Firefighters doused the flames within 30 minutes, while police, NIA, and NSG teams secured the site and began forensic analysis.
